I love going to summer concerts as everyone puts on their coolest summer gear and its great for some fashion inspiration! From seeing Madonna in Hyde Park, to the Notting Hill festival, the last few months of festivals have revealed to me some fabulous trends. Let me share with you some of my tips for festival fashionistas.
Oversized tees, jeans and wellies was a popular look. I also love the holey knit with shortie shorts. Both of the looks above rate high on the practical-yet-chic meter, which is of course the aim at a field-based festival.
I love how the lady above added a pop of colour to her otherwise grey outfit with a great yellow cardi, bring on the colour! Similarly, coloured jeans are huge (as I know they are in Australia too) and they are the perfect festival pant. Another trend that shows zero sign of abaiting, is lace. This chick below right is rocking the festival look, with a cool oversized tank, satchel bag and fab tights that really caught my eye! I just adore the full blown lace looks on the left.
I spotted these ladies at the Notting Hill festival on the famous Portobello Rd, and loved their feminine dresses. The pale pink shift dress looks adorable on this stylish chic; the pearl detailed cuffs added an element of easy sophistication. Pretty summer dresses never go out of style, paired with some ankle socks and boots for a fashionable edge. Dream Diva have the most divine pretty summer dresses at the moment. So- drawing from the trends above, I’ve put together my top festival picks; a sweet dress for a street fest and some more casual pieces for a music festival.
I hope you’re loving the summer releases as much as I am. Happy Shopping!
A new season has launched and with it comes a new host of trends and delights. If there is one trend that just encapsulates Spring/Summer 2012 it would have to be the printed pant. It has been seen everywhere, in particularly high concentration surrounding Fashion Week venues the world over. Thankfully this strend shows no sign of slowing its sweet satorial spread.
Without further ado then, may I introduce our delicious new floral jean.
A bright, floral, skinny leg printed pant? Please. Its summer in a pant. I adore this piece and I dont think I’m alone. Pre-launch, the pant elicited actual gasps from our models, makeup artists and photographers. Truly.
But there is a whole new range to talk about. A range full of bright colour, sweet sorbet shades, on-trend shapes and fabulous trans-seasonal wardrobe musts. I have selected my top three picks for you below, all photographed in our latest shoot.
Take a look at our new-ins- I just know you’ll love them as much as I do. Also, take a peak behind the scenes of our new-season photo shoot. We had a ball in Port Douglas capturing our amazing new range. (Special mentions to the Sea Temple Resort and Spa for the luxe surrounds!). Let me know what you think of the range, the new look site and the video. And keep your eyes peeled in the behind the scenes video, as you may spy some up-coming, not-yet-released looks!
You may remember our gorgeous staff member Emily from here, and you may remember me raving about her style. Well, not much has changed there. Sure we’re in a new season of rich hues, longer sleeves and cooler weather- but Emily’s innate sense of style remains unchanged.
Em and I took a few shots of some of her latest outfits to share with you. The first shows one of our most versatile shirts with another staple, our stretch mini. Worn over tights, leggings and boots the mini skirt is every bit as wearable and easy as a skinny black jean. She is sporting one of my favourite looks of late- a statement necklace tucked under a collar. Divine!
The second outfit shows our incredibly popular lace overlay dress, whose lace sleeves make it very wearable, especially for evening. Our gorgeous new trenches can be layered over a dress just as easily as worn over pants as Em shows above. Thank you Em for sharing your style with us!
Seeing the gorgeous new paddington jacket arrive at Dream Diva, I thought I’d share a few of my favourite coats spotted over London’s winter. Winter in London is all about the key wardrobe staple- a great coat! I met the super sophisticated woman on the left on the High Street. I just adored her coat she told me she made it herself, pretty impressive!
I LOVE the pea coat meets military style coat above right, in the gorgeous camel colour and don’t even get me started on those adorable little gumboots! Super cute! Of course, with Australia now heading into winter you too can sport a similar look. In fact, why not steal her style and try pairing the paddington jacket with rich plum colours and cute black booties.
The skater dress is everything at the moment, so I thought I’d share a few ways I’d style it. I’ve added a pop of colour for a weekend look, teamed it with black and gold for night time and paired it with a blazer for work. As always- I’m curious- how would you wear yours?
Here are a two of our gorgeous staff wearing some of their favourite pieces. Kayla is wearing the single pocket shirt, in a colour that was just made for her. Kayla’s wearing it with a black mini and heels, but it could work just as well tucked into black skinnies, with a turqouise statement necklace, tucked under the collar.
Katie is wearing one of my favourite garments, the lace baby doll dress. Being divinely tall, Katie has paired it with tights and flats; it could also work with a bare leg, nude patent pumps and a cute updo/hairband combo.
I love the flavour these girls have brought to their outfits, but as always I’m curious, how would you wear it?
I just thought I’d share with you another peek behind the scenes video of our latest shoot. The video shows our gorgeous new range that I absolutely adore. If I’m honest, I love it so much, that I’ve already whipped out my new trench style cape at every hint of cooler weather. I’m also quite captured by the divine pussy bow blouses in black and off-white. Let me know your thoughts on the new range, tell me your favourite pieces and whats on your wish list!
For something a little different, I thought I’d call on the gorgeous Isobel and take some shots in some of her favourite garments. Isobel is one of those girls who just exudes style, so I asked her to put together a few looks using her favourite pieces from our current collection. I love seeing clothes on runways, in magazines and on models but I get a particular delight from seeing how amazing ‘everyday’ girls can look. I think Isobel is the example of that.
With the advent of a fresh, New Year I think it’s only appropriate to stage a personal revolution. And I invite you to do the same.
As a magazine tragic, I have read countless articles on how to ‘dress for my shape,’ how to conceal, disguise and cover my curves. I’ve read about the ‘dos and don’ts’ for a plus size girl to abide by.
To those ‘rules’ I say- no more!
Throughout 2012- and beyond- I shall emphasize, enhance and celebrate my curves. I will break my own, self imposed, long-held limitations and do the following:
Wear shorts with or without tights
Embrace looser silhouettes, shorter hemlines
Wear bold colour
Exercise my right to bare arms
As I do, I’ll post a few pics and keep you updates as the revolution continues into winter. I’m quite certain my love affair with fashion magazines will surely continue, but I will seek only inspiration, not limitation. I’ll decide what to wear and how I’ll wear it. To hell with hiding and concealing! I’ll celebrate my plus-size figure and disregard the rules.
It’s been a busy and exciting time here at Dream Diva HQ. We’ve got gorgeous new additions to our summer range, as well as lots of new garments yet to be released. As promised, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek behind the scenes. I have put together a little video of the backstage action at our most recent photo shoot. It was my first time meeting Chanel and I can tell you, she is just as lovely and gorgeous in person as she appears in photos. Perhaps even moreso! If you happen to pick up NW magazine, look out for our ad gracing the inside cover. Have a delicious weekend!
